The smallest possible bet is the smallest possible amount that can be placed into the pot. The minimum bet is often the ante, and a fixed limit game might place restrictions on the number of times you can place a bet. The ante is an amount based on the stakes in the game.
In the most basic form of the game, the first bettor is the first to make a bet. This bet is deemed the “call” if it is not higher than the previous bettor. The second bettor then makes a bet, and the third bettor follows. The last bettor then has the option of checking, folding, or raising. Generally, all but one player folds on any given round.
